25A – What’s Next?
Existing Market
Step 1What I think is next for this venture is adding other languages to the web and mobile application. The original language of the application is English and after one year of having the application up and running, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese will be added next.
Step 2
The customers I have interviewed for this portion of this assignment agreed that adding more languages will be a great next step. They also asked for the possibility of adding a service for physical and occupational therapy. Since these are different from speech therapy, we would first need to evaluate and consider the viability of this option.
Step 3
What makes the most sense is the initial plan to add other languages. After that, we might consider including other services like the ones suggested by these customers who are part of the market for this product/service.
New Market
Step 1A Radical different market from the one I am currently in is parents who do homeschooling.
Step 2
I believe this venture concept may also be beneficial to them as they would have resources for homeschooling their children and tracking their progress.
Step 3
This idea would be actually more simple than what I am currently planing on doing. That is the same reason why there are already other homeschooling apps out there and nothing similar to what I am planing on doing it.
The people I interviewed for this portion of this assignment said that this would be very helpful on enabling them to do homeschooling and more importantly, track their children progress.
Parents said that there are other homeschooling apps available, but the ones who have a way of tracking their children progress, don't do a very good job at it.
Step 4
What surprised me most was the fact that parents said that there are other homeschooling apps available, but the ones who have a way of tracking their children progress, don't do a very good job at it.
My assumption was that since there are may apps who are specifically made for homeschooling, there would be one who did a good job on tracking the child progress. Fortunately for me, there isn't, so I can take advantage of this opportunity.
This new market does not appear to be as attractive as my current market because there are already several players who have been in it for years and they know what works and what doesn't. On the opposite side, my market is completely new and nobody is targeting it as I am at this moment.
Hi Arthur.
ReplyDeleteAnother great post! Most homeschooling apps I have seen are pretty bad at tracking progress so I agree that this is a fantastic opportunity for you to capitalize on. If you can find a way to solve this problem then your market automatically opens right up. It won't matter who the players are if they don't have a well rounded product to offer.
Hi Arthur,
ReplyDeleteI think you have a good grasp on your existing market. You are aware of who needs your service and how to market to them. There will always be new parents who realize they need your service so your market is potentially endless. I think your new market fits in well with your business and will provide more customers.
Hi Arthur,
ReplyDeleteThe innovation and the development of your venture could be a hit for homeschooling, definitely! Even, for parents like me (no homeschooling), I never have found an app to track my son’s progress in reading or math at home. Like an app that incentives them to do these activities, instead of playing games that are not contributing that much to their development. Great post!
