14A – Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?

I believe that up until now I have been able to use behaviors/skills such as: resilience, consistency, determination, and others to keep up with the requirements of this course.

2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?

Well, I did not feel like giving up at any point in this course, because I like challenge. I see every assignment that we have to complete, as a challenge that must be overcome successfully. What made me pull through is the experience of learning more (in fact, as much as possible) about entrepreneurship and business, since this is something I truly enjoy.

I believe that the past two months have helped me continue developing a tenacious attitude towards life, the "college experience" and obviously, this course as well. I believe that one of the experiences that contribute the most contributed to this would be the interview portion of the course. Interviewing people about an idea that does not exist can be intimidating, people may ask you questions that you don't know the answer to yet. For this reason, I feel that the interviews have been a major contributor to my tenacious attitude in the past two months.

3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?

The three tips I would give are:
a. Do assignments ahead of time, so you are not overwhelmed trying to do it 5 minutes before deadline
b. If something is not clear, ask a question. Do know assume things if they seem confusing to you
c. Give yourself sometime to relax your brain between challenging assignments. This should enable you to be "fresh" and not burned out for the next assignment

  1. Hi Arthur,

I liked that one of your skills you have used is consistency. I think that is important in the business world so that people know what to expect from you and know that you are dependable. I liked your last tip that you should take breaks in between the assignments. A lot of the assignments are intense and require a lot of thought so it is important to not overwhelm yourself!

  2. Hi Arthur,
Hope all is well with you. I believe that you have shown your skills and passion about entrepreneurship through all the assignments we have had. I have loved from this class how we have been building our ideas step by step. From a simple “bug” to have a business plan in process. I concur with Kori about the last tip. The breaks are also part of the work!

  3. Hi Arthur,
I enjoyed the authenticity of your post. Time management and fresh thoughts are two key factors to succeeding in this course. My favorite part of this course is the fact that you get out of this course what you put into it. If you want to challenge yourself and learn from an assignment there is ample opportunity to do so.

  4. Hello Arthur,

I totally agree with your three tips and are very useful for future students who are planning to enroll in this course. Although it’s just two assignments due every week, they consume a large amount of time so it’s very important to plan ahead and to be aware of future assignments. The assignments are also lengthy so frequent breaks are also very critical. Great post!
